Girl dies after being pulled from pool at Tinley Park water park
TINLEY PARK, Ill. — A 5-year-old girl died after being pulled from a pool at a Tinley Park water park on Friday, June 30.
The Tinley Park Fire Department responded to the incident at the White Water Canyon Water Park (8221 W. 171st St.) at around 3:53 p.m. and life-saving efforts were made by members of fire department. It is unclear how long the girl was underwater, according to officials.
The girl was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where she was later pronounced dead.
“Lifeguards with the Tinley Park-Park District initiated a water rescue Friday afternoon at White Water Canyon Water Park,” read a statement provided by the Tinley Park-Park District. “Emergency authorities responded, provided additional emergency assistance, and transported the individual to a hospital. No further information is being released at this time out of respect for the family. Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and loved ones.”
The water park was closed Saturday, July 1.
