MOKENA, Ill. — The Village of Mokena has issued an update on the health of Mayor Frank Fleischer, who has missed the past two board meetings after falling in his home in early February.
“Following a fall at his residence, Mayor Fleischer was treated at Silver Cross Hospital,” the press release issued on March 3 stated. “To further his recovery, Mayor Fleischer was then transferred to University of Chicago Hospital where he is currently completing a previously planned procedure. Mayor Fleischer and his family would like to again thank the Mokena Community for their support and continued respect of the family's privacy.”
Reached by phone March 3, Village Administrator John Tomasoski declined to give a timetable as to when Fleischer will be able to return to his role. In the interim, Trustee George Metanias has been serving as mayor pro-tem at the Village Board meetings.
