Mokena issues watering restrictions during heat wave
MOKENA, Ill. — The extended heat wave in Illinois has led the Village of Mokena to issue watering restrictions.
“Due to existing conditions and current weather forecasts, the Village of Mokena is taking measures to ensure an adequate water supply for public safety purposes,” stated a press release issued by the Village of Mokena on June 21.
As part of the new restrictions, Mokena is moving to its Tier 1 Orange Zone water conservation measures starting today, June 22. This means:
Lawn sprinkling is only allowed from 7-11 a.m. on odd or even dates, based on the home’s address.
Sprinkling during evening hours is not allowed.
No new sod may be installed until further notice, and no sod watering permits will be granted by the Village.
